capital punishment / 10:26 PM

I'm having those annoying nightmares of losing your loved ones again and again. I dont know why. Although i'm blogging about it now i dont wish to ponder on the fact that such thoughts run through my head and keep filling that void space. It sucks. Reality hit is one thing i dont exactly look forward to even though i cant exactly run away from it even if i try to. So whats the damn point, face it or just lose.

There are instances when you just happen to strike conversations with wild topics with loved ones. And once such topic came up when my cousin and myself were talking when we got bored of being a k-po about what others were talking about. "Capital Punishment" was the topic i referred to with her. For those who are not aware, Capital Punishment is sentencing a person to death. Ever wondered what would your last wish be if you knew exactly when you're going away from earth? 'm still working on that. We both agreed on the fact that capital punishment should never be an option even if its the last thing on the planet left to choose from. Why and how can anyone have the power or rights to take away life of another? Its not a matter of what position you may be sitting in or the power that you hold upon yourself. Some may argue that capital punishment is given for the fact that the person convicted could have caused much grief to the victim or the family of the victim itself. There have been moments when i've actually said "This person should be hanged for what he did!" But to think that actually happening to someone, i take back my words with much regret.

Its equally the same grief and torture the accused person's family would have to bear if the punishment is set upon them. If thats exactly why the punishment is being laid on him, then its pure revenge in other words and not punishment. As ar as i've been taught, punishment is a form of teaching so that one learns from the mistake he or she commits and never repeats it again. Whats the point of punishment when the person never has the chance to ever change or move on by learning the hard way. If you ask me, i'd rather the person be sentenced to a lifetime of imprisonment rather than capital punishment. Producing the punishment and laying it onto the fate of one's life is very easy, but the trauma the parents, spouse, children and friends feel of their loved ones for the rest of their lives is not exactly something anyone can appreciate. The curse and tears shed would only befall on the decision maker. Life imprisonment would teach the accused of learning the hard way and having to change to a better person. This still gives the family of the accused to know that he's changed and become someone better and also allow the victims family to know that he's learning the hard way and paying for the sin he commited. Everyone sins, who dosent unless you're saint.

I still stand strong on my anti-capital punishment thought. This is merely my thoughts put into words and nothing more. It just sparked off the conversation when we placed our thoughts onto how we would feel if we knew someone else was taking our lives away tmr without even being punished himself.

And think how your hair would stand when you walk down death alley and stand before a lifeless rope that takes your life away. -_-!
